What is Duprost (Dutasteride 0.5mg Capsules)?

Duprost (Dutasteride 0.5mg Capsules) containing the active ingredient dutasteride belongs to a class of medications called 5 alpha reductase inhibitors. The medication works by preventing the conversion of the hormone testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in the prostate. It can be used alone or with other medications to treat symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) such as acute urinary retention, a weak stream and the need to urinate frequently or urgently. It may also decrease the risk of needing prostate surgery in the future.

Duprost (Dutasteride 0.5mg Capsules) is used as a hair loss treatment for conditions such as male pattern baldness, also known as alopecia, as well as a treatment for benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlarged prostate). It is manufactured by Cipla Pharmaceuticals. The main ingredient inhibits DHT. Duprost (Dutasteride 0.5mg Capsules) shrinks the enlarged prostate over time and brings relief from the symptoms commonly associated with BPH.

Duprost (Dutasteride 0.5mg Capsules)  work?

Duprost (Dutasteride 0.5mg Capsules) contain dutasteride that specifically inhibits the action of both forms (type I and type II) of the enzyme 5α-reductase, that convert the male hormone testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in the skin and the liver.  DHT is the androgen primarily responsible for development and growth of the prostate gland.  DHT also causes benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) which is when the prostate becomes enlarged.  Duprost (Dutasteride 0.5mg Capsules) reduce the levels of DHT in the blood, so that prostate growth is no longer stimulated in men with BPH allowing the enlarged prostate to shrink. DHT, which is also found in hair follicles, is the androgen responsible for hair loss, as it causes hair follicles in the scalp to gradually shrink producing smaller and thinner hairs, which eventually do not emerge from the follicle.  Duprost (Dutasteride 0.5mg Capsules) reverses the balding process as it blocks the build up of DHT in the hair follicles of the scalp, allowing the hair to grow normally.

Duprost (Dutasteride 0.5mg Capsules) side effects include impotence (trouble getting or keeping an erection), a decrease in libido (sex drive), breast enlargement and tenderness (gynecomastia), a decrease in the amount of semen released during sex. These side effects usually decrease or disappear with continued usage, or stopping the medication altogether.

Do not stop taking Duprost (Dutasteride 0.5mg Capsules) without first talking to your physician. While some men have fewer problems and symptoms after 3 months of treatment with Duprost (Dutasteride 0.5mg Capsules), a treatment period of at least 6 months is usually necessary to see if treatment with Duprost (Dutasteride 0.5mg Capsules) will be beneficial.

Women who are or who may become pregnant must not handle Duprost (Dutasteride 0.5mg Capsules). The medication can be absorbed through the skin and may cause birth defects in the unborn baby. Do not donate blood until at least 6 months have passed since the last dose of Duprost (Dutasteride 0.5mg Capsules) is taken to prevent pregnant women from receiving Duprost (Dutasteride 0.5mg Capsules) through blood transfusion.
